Horizon Robotics Partners with Volkswagen to Roll Out Multiple Mass-Produced EVs

The 2026 Beijing Auto Show officially opened on April 24, where multiple new Volkswagen Group EVs featuring Horizon Robotics technology made their debut. The intelligent driving solution jointly built by the two parties via their joint venture Carizon entered the mass-production and deployment phase.

Exactly one month later, on May 23, Volkswagen’s Yuzhong 06 and Yuzhong 07 officially launched and began customer deliveries. This milestone marks the first full mass-production launch for Carizon’s self-developed intelligent driving system. The cross-border deep collaboration between Volkswagen and Horizon Robotics, which first kicked off back in 2022, is now delivering tangible commercial results, demonstrating a new model of collaboration between global automakers and Chinese intelligent driving companies.

Carizon: A New Paradigm for Localized ADAS Development

As a global automaker with years of deep-rooted presence in China, Volkswagen Group is advancing its "In China, For China" intelligent mobility strategy. Back in 2022, it established a strategic partnership with Horizon Robotics, pioneering the industry’s first model of "joint venture + deep co-development" between an international OEM and a homegrown Chinese intelligent driving firm.

In November 2025, the two sides elevated their collaboration to an advanced stage of joint processing hardware definition and co-development, leading to the establishment of their joint venture Carizon. Serving as Volkswagen’s exclusive localized ADAS R&D hub, the entity combines Volkswagen’s engineering expertise and rigorous vehicle safety validation frameworks with Horizon’s full-stack hardware-software integrated intelligent driving technology and the computing backbone of its Journey® 6 family. Together, they build exclusive high-level driving assistance solutions tailored to the needs of Chinese drivers and local road conditions.

Dr. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group, stated that Carizon enables Volkswagen to accelerate its local development cadence and precisely align its offerings with the driving and riding demands of Chinese consumers. Dr. Yu Kai, Founder and CEO of Horizon Robotics, noted that the deeply integrated hardware-and-software solution co-developed by both parties delivers a stable, smooth, and safe driving experience. Horizon Robotics will keep strengthening its in-vehicle AI computing infrastructure and collaborate closely with Volkswagen to bring high-end intelligent driving technology to the mass market.

Jointly Developed Models Enter Production Across Sedans and SUV Segments

At this year’s 2026 Beijing Auto Show, multiple co-developed vehicles equipped with Carizon’s driving assistance systems were showcased, including the FAW-Volkswagen ID. AURA T6 and the golden-badge Volkswagen ID. Yuzhong 07.

Among them, the FAW-Volkswagen ID. AURA T6 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV fitted with LiDAR. It features Carizon’s enhanced advanced driver-assistance system, blending German engineering precision with China’s localized intelligent driving innovations to deliver a top-tier ADAS experience in the industry.

On May 23, 2026, Volkswagen’s refreshed Yuzhong 06 and all-new Yuzhong 07 officially launched and entered customer deliveries. They are the first mass-production vehicles equipped with Carizon’s Intelligent Driving Assistance System. Two distinct hardware configurations will roll out sequentially to unlock full advanced intelligent driving functionality.

The vision-only variant, powered by the Journey® 6M, is already being delivered to customers as standard equipment. It comes factory-fitted with highway NOA, supporting automatic lane changes, ramp navigation, emergency obstacle avoidance, and remote-controlled parking. It also delivers cross-floor memory parking, optimized for most highway networks and parking lots across China.

A higher-specification variant powered by Journey® 6H and LiDAR is slated to launch by the end of 2026. This upgrade adds urban NOA, capable of smoothly navigating complex urban scenarios including narrow-road passing, U-turn maneuvers, and gate barrier recognition, enabling point-to-point assisted driving from one parking space to another.

All joint vehicle models from the two partners run on Horizon Robotics’ Journey® 6 automotive processing hardware family. This lineup features multiple variants including the Journey® 6M and Journey® 6H, built for two distinct technical routes: vision-only highway ADAS and premium urban intelligent driving paired with LiDAR, catering to Volkswagen’s diverse vehicle offerings across all price tiers.

The Journey® 6 portfolio has achieved broad commercial deployment with numerous domestic and international automakers. To date, the Journey® 6 portfolio has secured design wins with more than 25 automakers covering over 100 vehicle models, among which over 40 variants have entered mass production. The lineup is steadily advancing toward the 10-million-unit shipment milestone.

The successful mass-market launch of the joint intelligent driving solution developed with Volkswagen via Carizon also demonstrates that Horizon’s self-developed processing hardware and full-stack algorithms can pass the rigorous vehicle safety and reliability validation standards of a top global OEM. This underscores our robust technical capability to support the intelligent transformation of global automakers.
